For several decades, we, Marti and Bryan, have lived and breathed the restaurant industry in Illinois, working at just about every level of the business. We love great food, we love the hustle, and we love bringing people together over an incredible meal.
A few years ago, we took a trip to downtown Madison and experienced the unmatched energy of the city. We instantly fell in love with the vibrant community, the culture, and the beautiful stretch of State Street. Right then and there, we knew we had to be a part of it. We immediately started plotting and planning how to bring a brand-new restaurant concept to this amazing town.
After years of hard work, renovations, and menu perfecting, Baked Wings & Things officially opened its doors at 250 State Street in the summer of 2025!
We are so incredibly excited to finally be open, to serve you our scratch-made baked wings and smash burgers, and to officially call ourselves a part of this wonderful Madison community. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms! We can't wait to feed you!

OUR PROCESS
At Baked Wings & Things, we defy ordinary frying. We blast our traditional chicken wings in high-heat ovens, delivering a healthier bite and an exceptionally crisp texture that rivals that of any deep fryer.
For our jumbo tenders, boneless wings, and premium sandwich breasts, we switch the game entirely. We never freeze our chicken. Instead, we slow-cook it using precision sous vide before a final, fiery finish in the kitchen. The result? Unmatched juiciness and perfect tenderness in every single bite.
Marti's Mission
Our flavor is matched only by our dedication to our community. Our owner, Marti McKinney, spent much of her career as a social worker. That deep-rooted passion for helping others drives everything we do. We proudly support vital local charities like Nik's Wish and Sam's Sweetheart.
When our neighbors faced hard times in the fall of 2025, Marti stepped up by serving 50 free lunches every single day for weeks—no questions asked. We are honored to feed our community and look forward to being an integral part of Downtown Madison for years to come!
